ABOUT US
Our mission is to strengthen global public leadership through yoga.

We host yoga, meditation, and mindfulness classes and workshops for policymakers, humanitarians, and employees in the public sector.

We believe yoga can help transform international politics by creating healthier, more effective, ethical and mindful leaders.

Naya means "political wisdom" in Sanskrit. It can also be translated as "ethics" and "to lead."

WHY YOGA FOR
POLICYMAKERS & HUMANITARIANS?
Global crises are putting policymakers and humanitarians under immense pressure.
Compounding global crises, including climate change, armed conflicts, and pandemics, are creating unprecedented challenges for global leaders, policymakers, and humanitarians. Complex global contexts coupled with fast-paced work environments are increasing burnout rates and negatively impacting the mental and physical health of professionals tasked with solving our most pressing issues.

We need healthy and effective leaders. In such volatile times, we need politicians, public servants, and humanitarians who are strong, healthy, and have the mental clarity and decision-making skills to respond to these crises effectively. Humanitarians further need tools to cope with the challenging and sometimes dangerous environments they operate in.

Yoga can support public sector employees and promote political wisdom (Naya). Yoga alone cannot solve the serious political crises of our time, but it is a practice that can help public servants be healthier, more mindful and more effective. And in this manner, it can help transform the organizations they work for, the countries they represent, and the people they serve. Yoga and meditation provide scientifically backed tools for more effective time and energy management, creative problem solving, resilience, quick and effective decision-making, and improved mental and physical health. Mindfulness practices can help professionals tap into and maximize their potential.

Yoga is a rich ancient philosophy and tradition that originated in India thousands of years ago. At Naya Yoga, we consider ourselves lucky to share this tradition with others and are also aware of the responsibility we have to honor this practice and its origins as we do it. Our classes focus on meditation, breathing techniques, and the physical practice of yoga, but also explore and unpack the rich philosophy, principles, and history of this tradition.

If you are interested in having Naya Yoga teach a class for your team or in your office, please send us an email at manuelakurkaa@nayayoga.org. We teach primarily in Geneva, Switzerland but may be able to arrange some travel. We are also available for private classes via Zoom or in person.
